Our Story

Wright Builders, Inc. is celebrating fifty years as a leader in sustainable construction. Established by Jonathan Wright, founder & senior advisor, after he attended Hampshire College as a member of their first entering class in 1970. The company has always had a focus on quality craftsmanship combined with the cutting-edge technologies that allow for an efficient, net-zero energy building to be the standard. In 2018, with the completion of the R.W Kern Center at Hampshire College and the Hitchcock Center for the Environment in Amherst, Wright Builders, Inc. achieved national recognition as the world’s first builder to complete two Living Building Challenge projects.

In 2019 Seth Lawrence-Slavas joined Wright Builders as a project development engineer, becoming Vice President of Project Development in 2020 and President of Wright Builders in 2021. Seth acquired full ownership of Wright Builders in 2022. Under Seth’s leadership, technical and methods approaches to sustainability have been integrated with the latest science and research. In recent years all homes designed and built by Wright Builders are planned and engineered for zero net energy performance with owner installed solar. Working to significantly reduce embodied carbon and construction period environmental loads has kept Wright builders in the leading edge.
